Her Precious Secret

This is a last minute entry into *lucias-stock's "Princess With a Secret" contest. I have been meaning to do a deviation for her contest since it first began and had an idea for it then....just wasn't sure if I could do it the way I wanted or not. This is not exactly what I had pictured, but it is very close.

The short story: Princess Marina loved to travel to exotic lands and on one of her travels she met and fell in love with a young peasant gentleman. Knowing she would be going home and would never see her love...she gave into to her feelings and her passion for this man and did something unthinkable of someone of her standing. Her wish came true and she was with child....unfortunately it would be a child her true love would never know. Afraid to go home and tell her parents what she had done....she wrote to them to tell them she would be extending her travels. She stayed with a close friend far away from her kingdom until she had her child....a son.

She traveled home with her son and swore her servants to secrecy. A kind woman she knew agreed to care for her son and it broke her heart to hide him away, but she knew her parents would never understand or forgive her. Every evening she stole away from the castle to a small cottage in the woods outside the gates to see her son. She wanted him to always remember her face....and so she would never forget the face of his father for she saw him in her son and it always made her cry.

Ok...I'm definitely not a writer...this I know.
